Playing Boys Was Good For Flamingoes — Coach

Flamingoes’ Head Coach, Peter Dedevbo has given kudos to his girls after they lost 2-1 to a boys’ team in a warm-up training match at the Area 3 Astro-turf pitch, Abuja, over the weekend.

?The Coach, who praised the team for rising up to the Challenge to give the boys a very interesting run for their money, said that of all the three friendlies undertaken by the team, he was more impressed with the way his girls rose up to the occasion against the stronger boys.

“Of all the three friendly matches played by the team, I’m most impressed with this one. Though my girls lost 2-1, it was a very good test for them as they showed character, strength and agility whilst facing a strong opposition.”

“You see, I don’t believe in playing friendly matches just for the fun of it or so that we would be winning. The match was played one hour for each half (2hours) and really tested their endurance.’’

“We were initially scheduled to play Shettima Babes but they called to cancel but this was a blessing in disguise for my team as the boys were a better opposition”

“All in all,I will say that my girls were not disgraced but gave a good account of themselves” said Dedevbo.

“The Captain Victoria Aidelomon and other players also agreed that it was indeed a true test as they liked the way the boys stretched them before they pulled one back from a 2-0 deficit.??

Similarly, Coach Dedevbo also hailed his sister team, the Falconets’ impressive 2-0 win over Korea at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan on Sunday.

“I am so proud of what the girls have started there in Japan. I pray they win their second match against Brazil to seal their qualification to the quarterfinals” he concluded.
