Ado Bayero Vows To Assist In Fight Against Terrorism

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, has promised to assist the Kano State Police Command and other security agencies over the fight against terrorism in Kano State and the country at large.

Alhaji Ado Bayero stated this when the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, paid him a Sallah homage at his palace in Kano.

The royal father charged security agencies in the state to be vigilant and committed to duty, urging them to remain focused to the task of ensuring security of lives and property.

He noted that security was a collective responsibility of both the security agencies and the people, and called on them to be law-abiding and assist the security agencies, especially the police with useful information on criminal activities in the state.

The Emir said as royal father, he would continue to provide the necessary support and assistance to the government and security agencies to ensure peace and development of the state.

Ado Bayero urged the people of Kano State to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan and put such lessons and teachings into practice in order receive the divine blessings attached to the holy exercise.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, confirmed the arrest of one of the suspected gunmen who disrupted Sallah celebration last and said that the detectives have made a breakthrough with the arrest of one of the fleeing suspects, who escaped with injuries.

Idris, who spoke with newsmen yesterday, disclosed that security agents have spread their dragnet to track down the other fleeing members of the suspected gunmen.

“My men have arrested one of the suspects, with bullet injuries, while search for the remaining suspects have been intensified; we plead with members of the public, especially the medical personnel to report the presence of any patient with bullet wound to the police”, the commissioner said.

Idris, who was at the palace of the emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero to thank the royal father for his support to the state command, said that the Sallah attack was over blown in the media.

It would be recalled that gunmen on Sallah day embarked on a failed attack at police check point on Kano-Zaria road, during which a Mobile police man was attacked and sustained minor injury in the process.
