Immigration Issues 7, 243 International Passports In Niger State

The Nigeria Immigration Service in Niger has issued 7,243 international passports to Nigerians between January and September this year, the state Comptroller, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkarim, has said.

“We have issued a total of 7,243 international passports to Nigerians who applied through Niger command of the Nigeria Immigration Service,’’ Abdulkarim told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Minna.

Giving a breakdown of the figure, he said, 293 passports were issued in January; 426 in February, 447 in March, 1,736 in April; 1,960 in May as well as 964 in June; 699 in July; 677 in August, and 41 in September.

The comptroller said that the official rate of online applications per passport was N10,000, adding that applications in person with the necessary documents attracted N8,750 per passport.

He advised members of the public who wished to apply for international passports to be weary of vendors and unscrupulous persons who posed as agents and inflated the official rate.

“We are here to serve Nigerians and non-Nigerians; so every enquiry should be directed to us to avoid being a victim of fraudsters,’’ he said.
