Ban Seeks SupportFfor Brahimi, Prosecutions For War Crimes

UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Monday called on the international community to support new Syrian
peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and to ensure that those responsible for war crimes in the conflict-torn country are prosecuted.

Ban told the UN Human Rights Council at a meeting in Geneva.

“We must ensure that anyone, on any side, who commits war crimes, crimes against humanity or other violations of?international
human rights or humanitarian law is brought to justice,’’ Ban said.

“I urge all involved to unite behind the diplomatic efforts of Joint Special Representative Brahimi.’’ (dpa/NAN)
