IGP Sets Up Committee Over Ugochukwu’s Death

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday constituted a high-powered investigation team from the FCID, Abuja, to immediately take over the investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death on 20 September, 2012 of Ugochukwu Ozua? from the Lagos State Police Command.

Police spokesman, Frank Mba, who made known in a statement, said the investigating team has the responsibility to identify and fish out Ozua’s killer(s).

“The IGP’s directive is necessitated by the need to maintain neutrality, professionalism, speedy and holistic dispensation of justice”, Police Said.

Late Ozua was killed, allegedly by a policeman, recently in Lagos just five days after contracting his marriage ceremony.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the IGP reassured the nation that the Force would do everything humanly and operationally possible to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime are unmasked and eventually brought to book.

He appealed to members of the public, especially those who may have witnessed the crime, to come forward with useful information that could aid in tracking the felons.
