Mikel’s Recall Is Flawless – Nwosu

Ex-Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu has said the recall of Chelsea midfield enforcer, John Mikel Obi to the Super Eagles is a “right decision.”

Nwosu, a former Nigerian Under17s head coach, said Keshi’s recall of Mikel to the Super Eagles is deserving based on the player’s current performance in games for his London club.

“Seriously I think Stephen Keshi took the right decision by calling up Mikel Obi to the team again. Right now he is one of our best players out there and it will be totally unfair not to give him the chance to be part of the team. He’s playing well at Chelsea and getting results and so that makes him available for the team,” said Nwosu.

The former Eagles’ captain also believes that West Bromwich Albion forward, Peter Osaze Odemwingie should be given another chance to join the team.

But he made it clear that Keshi reserves the right to determine who he deems fit to be part of his team.

“Osaze is another player I also feel has done well in recent games before his suspension. May be he should be part of the side for sake of his experience. At the same time, the invitation of players remains the call of the coach and his technical crew,” said Nwosu.

Mikel was one of 15 overseas players called up by Nigeria for their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiying against Liberia in Calabar on October 13.

Odemwingie was left out of the squad by Keshi.
