Motorcyclist In Court For Alleged Manslaughter

A commercial motorcyclist, Baba Ibrahim, 24, was arraigned over an alleged manslaughter on Monday in Lagos.

Ibrahim appeared at a Surulere Magistrates' Court, which did not take his plea because he claimed he did not understand the English language.

The defendant, who resides at No. 1 Rufai St., Ajegunle Boundary, was arraigned on a two-count charge of dangerous driving and manslaughter.

Prosecuting Cpl. Adams Mathew told the court that the accused, who was in charge of a Honda motorcycle with registration No. FST 841 QB, caused the death of one Jafaru??Ado.

He said that Ado was knocked down as he attempted crossing the expressway, adding that this happened?along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway– by Coker Bus stop– on Oct 3.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 19(1) and 20 of the Road Traffic Act of Nigeria.

Magistrate M.A. Ladipo adjourned the case to Oct. 22 for hearing of the accused plea. (NAN)
