Niger To Demolish Houses Harbouring Terrorists

The? Niger state Government is considering a law to? demolish houses used by terrorists in any part of the state.

The attorney-general and commissioner for justice Alhaji, Abdullahi Bawa Wuse,? disclosed this to journalists yesterday? after a State Security Council meeting held at Government House? Minna.

According to him, an executive bill to give vent to the policy will be submitted to the House of Assembly soon.

The commissioner? said that the intention was to ensure that terrorists did not have any hiding place in the state.

He explained that it was the responsibility of landlords to know who their tenants were, saying ignorance would not be an excuse once the law was passed.

He also said? registration of all houses and the census of those residents in the houses would be done by?? the Niger State Geographic Information System AGIS.

He? added that local government administrations and emirate councils had also been directed to have proper development of settlements, stressing that they should not allow the shanties to take root.

The commissioner said local governments should keep records of visitors and report suspicious movements to the authorities.
