Labour Minister Calls For Improved Productivity, Service Delivery

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, has called for improved productivity and service delivery in the Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies in the country..

The minister made the call on Thursday when he received the National Coordinator, Servicom, Mr Sylbriks Ogiriki, in his office in Abuja.

He explained that all the ministries, parastatals and agencies were supposed to be productive in all ramifications for the people to feel the impact of government.

“I will tell you that the National Productivity Policy, the first of its kind in Nigeria, has been put in place to address service delivery in the nation. ’’

Wogu added that the Ministry of Labour had keyed into the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, which he observed, revolved around service to the people.

The minister urged collaboration between Servicom and the ministry on capacity building to enhance effective service delivery of the ministry to the people.

In his remarks, Ogiriki commended the ministry’s effort in settling industrial disputes in the country.

Ogiriki, who identified poor working environment in the past as one of the major challenges facing the country,? however, expressed delight that the situation had changed for better.

“I will say that this has changed and I can say that the country has a very good and peaceful working ambiance.”

He explained that his visit was to appreciate the minister for his support in entrenching effective service delivery in the ministry.

“It is very difficult to transform the country without the Ministry of Labour as it is a key ministry in President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.

“Labour ministry is responsible for labour administration and protection of workers,“ he said.
