Ex-Eagles Stars Beat Delta All-Stars To Honour CAN President

Nigeria’s Ex-Super Eagles internationals weekend defeated their Delta counterparts who ply their trades professionally at the local level to honour the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship Nigeria (PFN) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor on his 40th anniversary as a pastor in the vineyard of the lord. The match paraded Eagles of fame like Taribo West, (now a pastor), Austin Jay-jay Okocha, Stephen Keshi, Friday Ekpo, Emmanuel Amuneke, Uche Okechukwu, Samson Siasia, Henry Nwosu, Samson Ozugula and others. The Ex-Eagles won the encounter 2-0. It was played at the Warri City Stadium.

The Super Eagles stars displayed good football artistry and dominated the game throughout the entire period of the encounter. Most Deltans who had not seen live action involving Nigeria’s Olympic Medallists, got the opportunity through the encounter put together to commemorate the respected clergy. They were thrilled by the skillful display of JayJay Okocha, the resilience of defender turned Pastor, Taribo West and the ingenuity of the dream team as a whole.

Mathias Okiye, a FIFA accredited referee was at the centre while Princely Gift assisted him.

The clash kicked off at 12:55pm with the Eagles grabbing the first goal in the 5th minute. Okocha in his characteristic style reenacted his skillful displays and provided a structured midfield for the Ex-Eagles All Stars. A free kick awarded to the Deltans wasn’t utilised in d 18th minute and shortly after in the 20th minute, Okocha also wasted a glaring chance just at the edge of the opponents box.

Henry Nwosu who was the oldest member of the Ex-Eagles side by virtue of age (born October 18, 1960) had to stop play due to exhaustion just before the end of first half. Amuneke scored the second goal at the 10th minute for the Ex-Eagles in the second half after a brilliant assist by Okocha.
