Kuchi Wants Adequate Electricity Supply To Nigerians

The new Minister of State for Power, Mrs Zainab Kuchi, on Monday called for speedy provision of adequate electricity to Nigerians.

Kuchi made the call in Abuja when she took over the affairs of ministry from her predecessor.

“Nigerians will not accept further excuses in providing them with electricity.

“I am ready to commence business on the serious task of meeting this administration’s national objective of providing electricity to our people within a record time.

“The present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is desirous to re-ignite the productive activities in our manufacturing sites so as to reduce the intimidating unemployment rate in the county,’’ she said.

Kuchi said that one of her mandates was to expedite action in the sector, adding that Nigerians were appreciating the noticeable improvement in electricity generation.

She urged the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to ensure that the current increase realised in electricity generation did not relapse.

Kuchi assured the staff and management of the ministry that she would eliminate all impediments on the path of the growth of the sector.

The minister of state for power enjoined them to synergise in order to break any jinx on the way of developing the sector.

She promised that electricity projects in Mambilla and Zungeru would be quickened to ensure that Nigeria attained the goal of being one of the 20 most developed nations by the 2020.

Her predecessor, Mr Darius Ishaku, called on the staff to give the new minister the same level of support he enjoyed.
