Omotola Receives Beffta Icon Award In London

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekehinde has received her greatest award so far, the BEFFTA icon award.

The Black Entertainment Films Fashion Telivision and Arts BEFFTA icon award was? in recognition of her contribution to the movie industry that spans over a decade in Nigeria and globally.???

The award was presented to the mother of four on Tuesday by PR expert, Theodora Ibekwe at the prestigious London film East End Studios, the same studos where Marvin Records, musician, Wande Coal? produced his Go low video.

While receiving the award at a private presentation in East End Studios, Omosexy, as she is fondly called by her fans, thanked her husband, Captain Mathew Ekeinde and her teeming fans for taking her to the level she has attained in her 16 years in acting profession.

she said, “This is the best award I have received on a global level, it is such an honour and I'm truly humbled that 16 years of my work in the film industry has been rewarded in a special way internationally.

“There are so many people to thank for bringing me to this level. Special thanks goes to my husband for always being there, everyone that I have worked with but most importantly my fans. I love my fans so much, they are very supportive”.?

Omotola became the first movie star to be awarded with the special BEFFTA honorary award in the film category. Sir Trevor McDonald OBE also received a BEFFTA Lifetime Achievement award.

Omotola could not grace the BEFFTA award proper due to her busy schedule as we gathered, she was in Los-Angeles, California in United States for another function.???

The year 2012 has been incredible for Omotola, from being the highest paid actress to being the busiest on locations of big budget movies, now famously called 'the new Nollywood'.

The elegant actress has featured in numerous movie but recently the movie, Last Flight to Abuja which has become the the biggest premiere of any movie with six packed halls, a record no premiere has beaten. Last Flight to Abuja also starred Hakeem Kae Kazeem, Jim Iyke, Jide Kosoko and others.
