Gov Yari Inaugurates N15bn Road Project

Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara?on Friday promised?to complete the N40 billion road projects embarked upon by his administration before the end of his four-year tenure in May 2015.

Yari?made the promise?in Magami village in Maru Local Government Area of the state, when he inaugurated a 128-km road project awarded?at a cost of?N15.4 billion.

The road is expected to link agricultural producing communities of Magami-Dangulbi-Dankurmi and Sabon Birni in the Dansadau Emirate with Bagega, the gold-mining village and Anka, headquarters of Anka Local Government Area.

He said that government was committed to the completion of all road projects in an effort to open up the state for development.

He said although the 128 km road was scheduled for completion within 36 months, he would press the construction firm to complete?it within 28 months.

He said government had released N6.1billion, and would ensure timely release of funds to enable the company meet the terms of the contract.

“In our zeal to ensure speedy execution of all the contracts awarded by this administration, government has settled all outstanding mobilisation fees of between 30 per cent and 40 per cent to the construction companies that are engaged in various projects across the state.

The governor?asked construction companies to face the challenges of project completion for the people to derive maximum benefit?from the administration’s development initiatives.

He also urged the people to guard jealously public property and projects. (NAN)
