Russia To Finance Turkey’s First Nuclear Power Plant

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that his country would finance the total cost of Turkey's first nuclear power plant.

Putin spoke in Istanbul following talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, with trade ties and energy featuring high on the agenda, as well as the conflict in neighbouring Syria.

Russian state company Rosatom is set to construct the 22-billion-dollar plant at Akkuyu, in the south of the country.

It is expected to be completed by 2022.

“At least 25 per cent of the funds will be used to create jobs in Turkey,''Putin said at news conference touting the project.
