FRSC Solicits Assistance To Reduce Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Bauchi Sector Command, on Wednesday called on drivers to drive carefully and avoid overloading their vehicles to reduce accidents.

Mr Ibrahim Gaidam, Public Enlightenment Officer of the command, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi that passengers should also check the conduct of drivers by cautioning them in the event of reckless driving.

Gaidam observed that some accidents happened because many passengers developed lukewarm attitude toward drivers who flout traffic rules and regulations.

He?said that road crashes had been on the increase, especially in December due to?increased number?of passengers travelling for the festive period.

“Drivers should always be cautioned by passengers if they are driving recklessly or over-loading their vehicles.

“FRSC cannot be everywhere, that is why we are appealing to passengers to also assist by challenging any?driver?driving recklessly and overloading his vehicle,”.

“If you caution a driver for being reckless while driving and he refuses to listen to you, alert any security agent at the check-point and I am sure he will oblige to intervene,” he said..

He urged drivers to abide by the traffic rules and regulations, “so that all would have a peaceful and accident-free end of year and beyond.” (NAN)
