The Anambra Government is to spend N110.8 billion for its services in the 2013 fiscal year, the Governor, Mr Peter Obi, has said.
Obi?made the disclosure in Awka on Tuesday, while presenting the 2013 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Tagged: “People’s Budget of Integrated Development VI'', the budget proposal represents an increase of 33.2 per cent above the N83.2 billion approved budget of 2012.
The 2013 proposed budget estimate is made up of N70.8 billion for capital expenditure and N39.9 billion for recurrent expenditure.
“An estimated?sum of N70.8 billion is expected from capital receipts in 2013, an increase of 51 per cent over the budgeted sum of N46.9 billion for 2012,” he said.
The governor announced that the major priority of his administration in the coming year would be geared toward poverty reduction with the economic sector given an allocation of 32.3 per cent of the total capital budget.
Obi said that the state government would garner N12.5 billion as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and to get? N54 billion as its share from the Federation Account in 2013.
He said that to ensure the realisation and successful implementation of the budget, prioritisation of projects and programmes would be the guiding principle of government in the allocation of funds.
Responding, the Speaker, Mrs Chinwe Nwaebili, assured the governor that the appropriation bill would be accorded accelerated consideration and passage by the house.
Nwaebili subsequently referred the bill ?to the house Committee on Finance and Appropriation, urging it to work on it through out the festive period for its early passage. (NAN)
