Police Promotion: No Compensation For Victims Of Federal Character

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has said that Police officers who were denied promotion in the Force because of their state of origin, in line with the policy of Federal Character and Quota System may never get any compensation or reprieve.

The commission charged with the hiring and firing of the country’s police officers, made this known yesterday during a media chat, where it said that it was practically impossible to correct those wrongs.

Commissioners of the commission, Mrs Comfort Obi and Dr. Otivie Igbuzor, who addressed the media on behalf of the chairman, DIG Parry Osayande, rtd, disclosed that the commission has stopped implementation of the federal character policy in promotion of officers.

They however said that the controversial policy would still determine recruitment and promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG.
