New Driver’s Licence Will Eliminate Forgery, Fraud – FRSC

Osun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Imoh Etuk has stated that the newly introduced driver`s licence would eliminate forgery and fraud which bedeviled the old scheme.

He also stated that the new licence would create a central verification facility, which will enhance the integrity of the licence and boost its reliability as a document of identification for the holder.

Mr Etuk disclosed this in Osogbo, during the flag off of the new commercial driver’s licence at the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union motor park, Oke Ijetu in the state capital.

The FRSC boss posited that the scheme was introduced to harmonise, standardise and unify all existing mode of licencing of drivers and vehicles, so as, to involve a better road culture and efficient data management.

He further disclosed that the driver`s licence is a single card with a system generated personal Identification Number for the holder, stressing that it carries information on the bio-data of the holder.

Etuk said the new licence which would enhance the integrity of the drivers was a collaborative effort? between the states, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the FRSC.

Speaking on behalf of the police command in the state, the representative of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun assured the drivers and FRSC of absolute cooperation in the implementation of the new scheme, stressing that the command would do everything within its power to make the new scheme a success.
