Minister Of Interior Cancels Recruitment Into Immigration Service

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has directed the cancellation of the on-going recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media, Mr George Udoh, on Monday in Abuja.

The statement said the minister directed the cancellation of the recruitment following the controversies associated with it.

“Following the controversies trailing the on-going recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service, the responsible thing to do is to cancel the exercise.

“This will be until a more transparent and acceptable platform is established to enlist qualified Nigerians into the service,’’ it quoted the minister to have said.

It further said appointment letters and documentation carried out in view of the recruitment were cancelled subject to the resolution of issues by the Civil Defence, Immigration and Prisons Service Board.

The statement said the board would meet to consider the waivers granted to the Nigeria Immigration Service to recruit men and women.

“The minister also directed the suspension of all recruitment into the Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Prisons Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,’’ it added.

The statement said a more transparent exercise with established guidelines would soon be conducted.
