Gunmen have shot and injured the Interim Management Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Kambai Sumaila, the police confirmed, yesterday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Malam Magaji Majiya, who confirmed the incident, said that the driver of the chairman was killed on the spot while Sumaila sustained injuries.
Majiya said investigation regarding the shooting had begun, and added that the attack occurred early, yesterday.
Also narrating the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Information Officer of the Local Government, Malam Bashir Habib, said that the chairman went on a condolence visit to Sallari in the state capital, when he was shot.
“He was about to enter his car when some gunmen attacked his vehicle and shot dead his driver while the chairman sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.”
