The Presidential ambition of Nuhu Ribadu,
candidate for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) yesterday received a
boost in Ogun State following the emergence of young group of
undergraduates and professionals who formed themselves into a volunteer
body, Nuhu Ribadu Volunteers, to work for his victory at the April poll.

Speaking with NEXT in Abeokuta, the group’s
director of mobilisation, Kasali Adewale, said the decision to support
Ribadu was a result of his transparency and achievements as head of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Nuhu Ribadu has tremendous experience in public
service having given 25 years of his life to the Nigeria Police Force
and the EFCC. He posses the requisite competence, integrity and vision
to drive Nigeria forward,” Mr. Adewale said.

He also said part of their mission is to embark on
home-to-home campaign for Mr Ribadu. “He represents true change, being
part of a youthful generation of Nigerians who are the victim of
successive foiled leadership.

“It is corruption that makes government officials
put square pegs in round holes, and nobody has demonstrated a capacity
to fight the scourge of corruption in Nigeria as much as Mallam Nuhu
Ribadu.”

He added that Mr Ribadu’s work at the EFCC was
instrumental to the lifting of the various international sanctions on
Nigeria that had hitherto stifled business in Nigeria.

“He was instrumental in the delisting of Nigeria
from the list of non-cooperative countries in the area of fighting
financial crimes,” he said.
