After his official visit to Jigawa State yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan returned to Aso Rock at about 4pm with a light itinerary for the rest of the evening. Top on his mind was the election in the US and how it was going to play out: Will it be Barrack Obama or Mitt Romney?
According to a source, unlike many week day evenings when his schedule could be loaded with appointments or political meetings, he kept only one function, which last only thirty minutes and ended at 8.30pm.
He spent the rest of the evening with his close aides discussing the various possible outcomes in the US elections, including the probability of an electoral college tie.
“By 11pm,” a source said, “the president brought the meeting to an end and said, like many of us, that he was going upstairs to watch the rest on TV.”
