Kogi Council Polls, Wada Warns Mischief Makers

Ahead the May 4, 2013 council polls, the Kogi State? Governor Captain Idris Wada,? has warned trouble makers to have a rethink,?? saying the law enforcement agents are properly equipped to handle any ugly situation.

Wada? who gave the? warning yesterday? during the presentation of flags to the chairmanship and councillorship? candidates of the PDP in Okene, central senatorial district of the state.

He urged the candidates to run a campaign of issues rather than character assassination? saying election must not be a do or die affair.

According to the governor, the PDP has shown that it was an? organized and active party by the way and manner the primaries of the party were? conducted.

He advised? the candidates to key into his transformation agenda, by making the welfare of the people the major focus of their administration.

He called for a more united party, devoid of rancour and acrimony, even as he promised to use his position to unite the people of the state for better dividends of democracy.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the party in Kogi state, Hassan Salawu, thanked the governor who is the leader of the party for the mature way he has handled the affairs of the party in the last one year.

He advised the candidates to engage in campaign of issues rather than in? character assassination which according to him cannot ensure development and growth.

Also speaking, the secretary to the state government Professor Olubemiro Jegede, thanked the governor for ensuring that peace returns to the central district of the state.
