A group called the
Elders Forum of West District of Ogun state yesterday rejected the
governorship candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, Ogun State
Chapter, Ibikunle Amosun. The Elders want a candidate from the Yewa zone
of the state, claiming that it is the zone’s turn, and Mr. Amosun is
not from Yewa. Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, the state
capital, chairman of the forum, Ayinde Ibikunle said: “We have also been
committed to the political emancipation of our people and have taken
concrete steps towards achieving this goal.”
Accompanied by other
leaders at the conference held at the Government Resersation Area,
Ibara, Abeokuta, the chairman emphasized that “to achieve this goal, we
have carried out series of meetings and consultations with various
interest groups across Ogun State. We therefore found it necessary to
once again call on and appeal to the leadership of the ACN within and
outside Ogun State, including the former Governor Olusegun Osoba, Bola
Tinubu and Bisi Akande to use their influence to support the Yewa
people’s desire of being adopted by the ACN as its governorship
candidate.”
Mr. Ibikunle argued
that the group was convinced that their loyalty and support in the past
deserved to be appreciated and reciprocated now,
“For the avoidance
of doubt, let us state categorically once again that our people will
support or respect only the political party or governorship candidate
who equally respects or support or resolve of our people to produce the
next governor of Ogun State,” he said.
Seek Peace
Reacting to the
rejection, Mr. Amosun said that the protest depicted the beauty of
democracy, adding that everyone has the fundamental right to protest in
such a situation.
“I share their feelings,” he said. “They have the right to ventilate
their anger at any time but it is for us to now appeal to them and let
them see reason that where we found ourselves now is not about where
somebody comes from. Everybody should unite and send the PDP government
out of office.”
Gud morning my good people of ogun state i wanted 2 appealing the present governor of ogun state,sen ibikunle amosun for him to uplifted ogun state to a higher place with harmony § peaceful,there must be humanskill amongs his advocates,administration of this tenure should nominated a trustful § accountability amongs ministers,assembly § advisers to avoid the level of govt of somepeoples 4 distribution of wealth § creation of employment to reduce the level of fraud § embezzlement in ogun state,bcss sometime govt may totally loyalty while patnership may be fraud this will create misunderstanding btw the gov § people in grassroot.for btter ogun state right person must be nominated § it must also be his|her field,pls employed d graduate person who are unemployed in order 4 govt 2 improved the standard of living of the populace, at d same time do it according 2 d constitution says dat govt is d govt of d people.work on it people are really suffered thank,this my view.
