Audu Ogbeh, Chairman, ACN Manifestos Committee, has predicted that Nigeria will become a two party state in the future.

He expressed this opinion in an
interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday,
advising that such a situation should not give room for worry because
it is normal in most advanced democracies of the world.

Mr Ogbeh, who is also the Director
General, Ribadu Campaign Organisation, said there are 179 political
parties in the United Kingdom but only four of them are popular.

“In the USA, there are well over 15 to
20 political parties in their records, but you only hear about the
Republicans and the Democrats. Each of them comes and establishes its
presence depending on how it identified problems and how strongly it
has established itself,” Mr Ogbeh said.

On the alleged harassment and
intimidation of some party members, Mr Ogbeh said the ACN will not be
deterred by such, even if the allegations are true.

“In the third world countries, these
things always happen. Such rumours are often times true because those
in government do not want to take the risk of losing out. It may be
true in many cases, but we are also not going to give up or be deterred
because somebody is harassing somebody.” He said.

He said the success of the forthcoming elections is the
responsibility of all, adding that INEC and the government alone cannot
ensure free and fair elections.
