… as Chidinma drops singles
By Lolade Sowoolu
No doubt, Lagos is to Nigeria what Hollywood is to America. Realising this, loads of entertainment practitioners – upcoming and established, troop into the state day in, day out wanting a bite of the Lagos pie.

Omo Ibadan – Yetunde

Joining the truck load of singers who have settled in Lagos from other states and countries is Project FameWest Africa’s Omo Ibadan – Yetunde. The Ibadan based vocalist peculiar for her dialect-flavoured way of singing coupled with a terrific stage presence has moved into Lagos hoping to flag off her professional singing on a bigger scale. Yetunde is set to release her single ‘Akingbolahan’ which she composed and first performed at the Project Fame show last year.

Before now Yetunde, who placed 4th in the competition wining a sum of N1m had been involved in studio recordings rendering backing vocals for other singers. She came to limelight when she miraculously made it to Top 6 in a keenly contested talent hunt competition among 18 contestants drawn from different African countries.  As expected, Yetunde’s making appearances at public functions and performing at a few.

Meanwhile winner of Season 3 PFWA, Chidinma Ekhile has made her solo debut. The ‘small but mighty’ singer, this week, released two singles titled, ‘Jankoliko’ and ‘Carry you go’ for airing.

Fast paced Afro pop Jankoliko features Sound Sultan and preaches on the dignity that is in labour. While recounting the hard work that has earned her the measure of success she has today, Chidinma comes strong, as usual, in her delivery.

Carry you go on the other hand is a love song that heavily flatters the petite dynamite’s strong vocals.  It is expected that before the end of the year, Chidinma’s full body of work will be available for purchase. The singer is managed by the Ill Bliss-led Goretti company.
