Ogun Advised On Internal Revenue Generation

Ogun state government has been advised to look inward in areas of boosting the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state for it to be able to deliver on its electioneering promises.

This advise was given by the state chairman of the Scrap Dealers Association of Nigeria (SDAN), Mr Lukman Onifade, while speaking with our correspondent in his office along Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

Onifade stated that the government has a lot to benefit from the association to support the economic growth of the gateway state, “We have studied with keen interest the programmes and mission of Sen. Ibikunle Amosun and have seen that he meant well for the good people of Ogun State, but what can he do with the current financial mess the state is facing? The area we intend to support the government is in the area of boosting the IGR in which we believe if we collaborate together, the state will have cause to laugh at the end.”

He continued, “I want to tell you that Ogun State has the largest number of Steel Industries in the country and over 10,000 tons of trucks entering the state on a daily basis. If the state government can collaborate with the association and adequate support is given to us, at least about 5 million naira can be realised from these people and that will go a long way in boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.’’

SDAN boss however disclosed how the past administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel siphoned the fund through the so called agents who raked the money into their personal accounts and failed to remit the association’s percentage.
