AI-Habibiyyah: We Will Disburse Zakat Every Month If …

The AI-Habibiyyah society on Thursday 28th July, disbursed their third Zakat. In the speech of the Imam at the occasion, he began by thanking Allah for using the AI- Habibiyyah Islamic society to bring the relief Islam preaches to the less privileged of society. He said it was only three Muslims that contributed the sum of N5m.

He said AI-Habibiyyah intends to disburse their Zakat every month if there are donors which they are working hard to achieve. He further said that
government does not need any other thing to bring about peaceful and good governance than to see that the less privileged are cared for by way of creating an avenue to empower them. This, he said is how Islam intends to bring about a total peaceful society and a balanced nation.

The chairman of the mission board of the organisation and the lecturer of the occasion said his speech is directed to the entire Muslims in Nigeria. According to him, if all the rich Muslims in Nigeria pay their Zakat as Allah instructed, by Allah, the society would witness total security and peaceful co existence the entire world over. He however expressed surprise to hear that it was only three Muslims that gave out theirs which amounted to N5m including one that donated N14,000. He challenged Muslims to consider the fact that Zakat is obligatory and if five hundred rich Muslims give out their Zakat, that would mean total empowerment of the less privileged.

One of the problem that some Muslims claim deprives them from paying their Zakat is the fear that the money would not be disbursed accordingly but he said, if one wants to give out their Zakat and want to be sure of the disbursement, they should bring it to AI-Habibiyyah, this means you can come and participate in how the money is disbursed. He said, “in AI-Habibiyyah , we strive to conduct all our affairs with the fear of Allah and not because we have anything, in fact, as you can see, we are still planning to build our mosque which means we are also greatly in need of resourses to complete our projects. Zakat is a trust on us as organisation which propels us to work harder to disburse every penny as it is supposed to be and to those who deserve it”. He therefore called on Muslims to bring their Zakat to the society and be sure of its safety. He then explained widely those that are obliged to collect Zakat and those that cannot.

At the occasion, 72 people benefited at the third disbursement including, people that got from N20,000-N100,000 as empowerment, education, debt settlements, business upgrading, tricycle supports, 4 deep freezers, 2 motorcycles, 3 sawing machines, 2 filling machines, shoe making, vulcanise machines etc. Others got N50,000 – N100,000 cheque according to their request.

The Imam explained that some wrote for higher support but were not listed among the beneficiaries. He assured them to not lose hope beause as soon as they receive more Zakat, donations shall accommodate every one.
Furthermore, AI-Habibiyyah Islamic society is one of the leading societies in Nigeria with the level of their Islamic propagation and the awareness being created with their various Islamic programmes.

Recently, barely weeks to the commencement of Ramadan, the society inaugurated their permanent site building committee to be headed by Alhaji Farouk Suleiman, the chairman Fasman Imt. In his speech, the chairman said the journey of AI-Habibiyyah Islamic Society started precisely in January 2003 when the Chief Imam, Adeyemi Fuad conceived the idea of looking for an avenue to bring together people of like minds to continue the Da’awah work in Abuja. With the help of Allah (SWT) and the people around him, the Imam was able to come up with AI-Habibiyyah Islamic Society and beginning by using a friend’s house in Garki Area

Along the line, a parcel of land was discovered in Wuse “ that was meant for a Mosque according to the master plan of FCDA. Dr. Aliyu Babangida, the then Permanent Secretary (MFCT) was instrumental to the privileged information on the Wuse land. On August 1, 2003, the society moved to the land and all activities moved on without hindrance until July 2006, when a team of people came from FCTA and pulled down the Mosque.
After the execution of the task, activities of the society continued but this was without putting any temporary or permanent structure in place. Eventually, the society moved out from the place on Sunday, October 10, 2010 and the issue of permanent site was totally solved.
“ … And whoever fears Allahl He will find a way out for him (from every difficulty). And will provide for him where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah -then He is sufficient for him … “ (Q65:2-3)

This parcel of land we are today was officially allocated to AI-Habibiyyah Academy while Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the founder had magnanimously surrendered it to AI- Habibiyyah Islamic Society, fisebilillahi. It is in consonance with the foregoing that the Shuurah Council at her meeting held on Thursday, October 10th, 2010 approved the nomination of the building committee members with my humble self as the chairman and Alh. Abdulganiyyu O. Abdulrasaq as the secretary.

Today’s inauguration is a landmark event in the history of AI-Habibiyyah Islamic Society when a Building Committee of AI-Habibiyyah Model Islamic City is inaugurated with the task of building a befitting structure on the allocated parcel of land for the society. The committee has as part of its terms of reference, to coordinate the launching, solicit for funds and mobilize the members of the society to construct a befitting Mosque and other structures on the land.
Who is he/she-that will lend unto Allah (SWT) a beautiful loan, so He will double it for him maniford? And Allah withholds and increases; and to Him is your return” (Q2:245) If ••• and whatever good you put forward for yourselves, you will find it with Allah, it is better and greater in reward …. At this juncture, I will like to invite all of you to join me in a venture that may earn us paradise tickets from this earth by working assiduously towards the speedy completion of a complex for Allah. Incidentally, I have looked around Asokoro and its environs and they parade world class edifices, name it – schools, supermarkets, good houses, hotels and Churches but what baffles me most is that I have not yet come across any Jumat mosque around and come to think of it, it is only Allah that knows the reward we will earn if we can give our Muslim Ummah a Mosque that will be a pride for all.
