Minister Pledges Speedy Rehabilitation Of Ore-Benin-Auchi Road

The minister of works, Arc. Mike Onolememen, has pledged speedy completion of the Okene-Auchi-Benin road, just as contractors resumed work on the Ore-Benin road. According to a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP, the minister made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshimohole, at the government house in Benin.

On the washout on the Auchi-Okene road, the minister said that the federal government was working fast to tackle the erosion menace which bedeviled the area, and pointed out that a holistic drainage plan was being worked out for the entire settlements in the area. He stressed that government had gone ahead to initiate an interim measure to recover the road, and added that in a couple of weeks, a reputable contractor will be mobilised to site to commence work.

?In his remarks, Comrade Oshiomhole congratulated the minister on his well-deserved appointment, and said that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan made the right choice by appointing him the minister of works. He stressed that the State government was ready to collaborate with the federal government in addressing the road infrastructure challenges facing the state.

On the Ore-Benin road, the minister said government was committed to fully recover the road, and pointed out that the water level on most parts of the road was very high and resulted to washing out of the road every rainy season. To checkmate this problem, the minister said that a stone-base layer would be introduced to as a technical,lasting solution to that challenge.
