“IBB, Biggest Beneficiary Of Aikhomu’s Loyalty”

The former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has been described as the biggest beneficiary of the loyalty of the late former Military Vice President, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.

Aikhomu, who served under IBB between 1986 and 1993, died on Wednesday at the age of 72.
The former governor of old Bendel State, Dr. Ogbemudia, in a press release said that the late Aikhomu was a patriot with deep Nigerian nationalism, whose contribution must be appreciated by the Esan ethnic group where he hailed from.

“His Edo people must appreciate his efforts. However, it is his naval profession and the man IBB that were the greatest beneficiaries of his loyalty, sacrifices, and commitment. His death is therefore an institutional loss to Nigeria and personal loss to IBB”, he added.

According to him, Edo State which Aikhomu helped to create in 1991 is turning 20, but unfortunately, he would not be available to celebrate the success the state has so far achieved which are garland to his memory.

He went further to say that the late Admiral was a model that younger officers of the Nigerian Armed forces should emulate.
?“The disciplined career of Admiral Aikhomu is a lesson for younger officers of not only the Navy, but the entire armed forces of Nigeria to emulate.
