President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the adjustment of the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) as agreed by government and organised labour.
A circular issued yesterday in Abuja by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, said March 23, 2011 would be the effective date of implementation.
The circular, titled “Implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the Federal Public Service : The Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure,’’ was signed by Chief Richard Egbule, Chairman of the Commission.
Egbule said the president gave the nod for implementation as a result of? the “recent agreement between the Federal Government and labour movement, represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC)”.
He said the circular supersedes the earlier one, with? Ref. No. SWC.04/VoI.IX/482, dated July 8, 2011 and that “all enquiries relating to the circular should be directed to the commission”. (NAN)
