Chairman, Malali quarry workers union in Kaduna State, Kabiru Mohammed, has said the Sustainable Management of Mineral Resource Project (SMMRP) has made life easier for members of his union by providing them with a crusher and a generating set.
Kabiru said they have benefitted much as the crusher does triple, the work they would have done with their bare hands.
According to him:“We have benefitted much, because they gave us a grant which we used to buy a generator and a crusher? which is making the work? much easier because with the machine, we can crush double or triple? what we would manually.”
The chairman who said that? 105 members of the union benefitted from the grant appealed to government and other good spirited individuals to help the union with drilling machines, crushers and other tools.
Manager of the crusher, Abubakar Suleiman, said that the demand for crushed rocks is high and if they could get another crusher, they would meet the high demands.
Abubakar who commended SMMRP said, with the profits from the crusher, they have been able to acquire a block making machine and have even started production and would soon start making interlocks.
According to him, their prices are cheaper than others and their blocks stronger as they mould with crushed rock, making the blocks strong and long lasting.
