Taiwo Threatens Legal Action For ‘Dupe Report’

AC Milan defender, Taye Taiwo is considering legal action after he accused a football website of “inaccurate” and “defamatory” remarks.
In early July, a football website reported that Taiwo lost over 150,000 Euros to a London-based agent he worked with.
The report further highlighted a string of other financial losses suffered by the player who recently moved to Italy.
But the furious player has described the report as “dishonest” and “evil” after it created a storm within the national team set-up.
“There is absolutely no iota of truth in the publication and to prove that I’m considering a legal action against the website,” the left-back says.
“I’ve had several people [players and officials] asking me to substantiate the claim in the report. But the truth is that I was never duped and everything is well between me and the agent in question.”
Taiwo explained in a strongly-worded interview of his dismay at the heartless and disgraceful publication.
“At a point I got tired of explaining it to people until they found us talking together during our camping in London [for the cancelled friendly against Ghana].” Taiwo says.
“I’ve been looking at all the necessary steps to be taken in terms of a legal action.
“It’s shameful to see some people resort to speculation and rumour to make a sensational headline.
“I feel embarrassed, the person in question was painted bad and now that wrongful accusation must be resolved in a civilised way – in court.”
The accused agent was not named in the initial report but players and officials who have known both parties for couple of years have stepped in to quell the storm.
