Women’s Society Seeks End To Terrorism

The National Council for Women’s Societies (NCWS) has charged security operatives to work assiduously to put an end to acts of terrorism across the country.
Condemning last Friday’s bomb blast at the UN House in Abuja, the National President of NCWS, Mrs. Nkechi Mba, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the acts had brought agony and misery to women.
The statement read in part, “all acts of terrorism bring misery to women, families and the nation at large. The UN is a symbol of global unity which particularly benefits women and other vulnerable groups. We call on persons or groups responsible for these acts of terrorism to know that such acts of violence are against the symbol of global peace and development and the interest of innocent families and as such, must be stopped.”
The NCWS commiserated with the UN family, Nigeria and the immediate family members of the victims and called on stakeholders to act quickly so as to end the misery.
The society further counseled the perpetrators to note that the women who were wounded or killed in the blast could have been their mothers, wives, daughters or any other female figure in their lives and added that the death of men and youths had turned women into widows, with some left childless.
