A 29-year-old man Ibrahim Kpatagi of Kpatagi village of Lavun local government area of Niger State has killed his friend Yabagi Ibrahim, over alleged plot to entice his wife to have an amorous affair.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Ibrahim killed Yabagi by stabbing him in the neck at about 2am on Monday at Dokogi village where they both went for a naming ceremony.
Our correspondent also gathered that in the village that after the naming ceremony in the afternoon, the villagers normally gather in the night to party and celebrate the new born baby.
An eye witness told LEADERSHIP that it was during the dancing to traditional music that Ibrahim sighted Yabagi talking to his wife and concluded that the deceased was trying to entice his wife to have an illicit affair with her.
The eye witness told LEADERSHIP that Ibrahim, who was irked by the closeness of his wife to Ibrahim, immediately ordered his wife not to leave the venue of the party.
It was learnt that Yabagi, who hailed from Badda, a neighbouring village to Kpatagi, tried to explain to Ibrahim on a friendly note but was rebuffed and unknown to Yabagi, the jealous husband brought out a knife and stabbed him in the neck.
It was gathered that Yabagi died after first aid treatment by the villagers failed to revive him.
When contacted, the Area Commander in charge of Bida area Police Command, Ayo Olatunji, confirmed the incident and said that Ibrahim had been arrested and transferred to criminal investigation department in Minna for further investigation.
