‘Ethno-political Strife Can’t Break Nigeria’

The Akwa Ibom State resident pastor of the Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Emeka Namoko, has stated that despite security threats posed by the Boko Haram sect and other ethno-political challenges threatening the unity and sovereignty of Nigeria, the nation will not disintegrate.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Uyo on the activities lined up by the Christ Embassy Church for the celebration of this year’s Reach- Out- Nigeria-With Rhapsody-of- Realities, Nnamoko said the bloody activities of Boko Haram and the several ethno-political crises were pointers to an eventual unity of the country.

He countered predictions by some local and international political personalities that Nigeria would break up by 2015, adding that the nation marked 51st birthday today, the country has passed through various trials that would make it impossible for her to split.
He maintained that Boko Haram and their alleged acts of terrorism was only a test of the country’s sovereignty and her acclaimed unity in diversity and therefore dismissed calls by some people for the convergence of a hide quoted text – sovereign national conference as unnecessary.

The cleric however, said that he was disappointed at the ‘treacherous’ conducts of a group of Nigerians who were using sectional politics and religion as lethal weapons to threaten the unity of the country, adding that acts of terrorism were alien to Nigeria.
“Nigeria has a complex problem and it is unfortunate that what has been happening in the outside world is happening in Nigeria, but I want to assure you that this country would never break up because of Boko Haram,” he stated.
