PDP Won’t Engage In Violence – Suswam

The Benue State governor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam has pledged that his government and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not go into any violent act or join issues with the opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Reacting to the recent bloody protest in some streets in Makurdi by supporters of the ACN, Suswam said that he had asked his party loyalists not to attack any opposition member in the state, lamenting that the rival party could resort to hiring youths and giving them cutlasses to disrupt the peace of state.

He also promised that he would ensure that the miscreants arrested by the police are duly prosecuted, saying that such action would serve as a deterrent to others.

“I have urged all the youths and supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to engage themselves in any form of social vices that could jeopardise the peace and security of the people. We promised these people maximum security and I will not open my eyes and see their security and safety being put into jeopardy by some individuals who believe that this state cannot move forward without them.”

“I have been keeping calm because I am the chief security officer of Benue State and I will not go into violence or join any issues with the opposition,” he said.

Suswam, however, regretted that the ACN, instead of looking for a way to empower the youths, had decided to buy cutlasses and other deadly weapons for them to cause crisis in the state.
