Okorocha Approves N20,000 Minimum Wage For Imo Workers

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha will today sign a new minimum wage of N20, 000 agreement? with the organised labour in the state.
This is scheduled to hold at the state secretariat on Portharcourt road, Owerri.
The amount represents a marginal increase over the N18, 000 national minimum wage approved by the federal government.
In a press statement yesterday, Government House said that this would further motivate the workers towards living up? to expectation in their responsibility to ensure that government policies and programmes were effectively implemented.
Gov. Okorocha, it would be recalled had earlier expressed that N18, 000 minimum wage approved by the federal government was grossly inadequate to be regarded as living wage, as such promised to pay above the national minimum wage in Imo State.
Also, the recent report released by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) rated Imo among 15 healthy states in Nigeria .
