Gov Orji’s Sack Of Non-indigenes Claims First Victim

A Deltan- Abia? employee, Olisa (Surname? withheld) has? reportedly died of heart-attack, aftermath of the controversial? Abia? State government’s decision to? sack? workers who are not from the State.

Olisa, reports said, a native of Oko Community, Delta North senatorial district,? allegedly? slumped? and? died? after? receiving disengagement? letter? from Abia? State? government? recently.

It? was? gathered that twenty-four? Delta indigenes? had? secured employment? with the? Abia? state government? Judiciary? and were sacked? with others? in? controversial? circumstances by Governor? Theodore? Orji? after they had served for several years without compensation.

Olisa,? was reported? to have? returned? from his home town, Oko, where? he? went to? bury one? of his? children when? he got? the sack? letter.
Sources said that he??? received the letter with care,?? opened it? and? while reading? it? slumped and? died?? before? medical? attention? could reach him.

The letter reads, “Letter of disengagement of employment. I am directed to notify you of your disengagement from the service of Abia State Judiciary with effect from 1st October 2011”.

While? narrating? their ordeals,? 23 others (Deltans)? yesterday? told newsmen in Government House, Asaba that? Olisa died? of heart attack as he? was? hail? and healthy? before the incident and added that? they were sacked with ignominy.

According to them, “we were? holding a meeting? about? our disengagement? and Olisa was? not? among us, only for? us to? call his?? GSM number(s)? and a family member said he? died few? days? earlier of shock”.
