Imo Govt, KWAYKAF To Train 60 Interns In US

? The Imo State government, in partnership with KWAKAF, is to train 60 Imo State indigenes in higher institutions on a six-month internship programme in the Centre for Energy and Environment Engineering, University of Maryland, United States.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, the special adviser on Youth Affairs in Imo State, Uche Nwabueze Henry said the state had attracted foreign partnership with the international organisation. The state will soon send in the first batch for a student exchange programme on Engineering.

According to Henry, all Imo State students in higher institutions are eligible, but we are starting from Engineering. There will be a test and screening exercise and the selected 60 will receive internship programme for six months. The first batch will move in February and March 2012.While in the US, each of them would be paid the sum of 7,000 dollars as pocket expenses at the duration of the training.

He added that the state government hoped the programme would afford the students the opportunity to meet other students abroad and create employment opportunities for the students after the completion of their internship, even as the state hopes to attract foreign investors.
