34 Firms Bid For N9bn Contract In Niger State

Niger state government has opened public bidding for its N9billion bond project with 34 construction companies and nine consulting firms participating.
The state commissioner of works, Dr. Ibrahim Sule, who supervised the bidding with a team of the State’s due process and public procurement council, said at the State secretariat, yesterday, in Minna that the bidding had to be conducted before all the companies that have indicated interest to ensure transparency as contained in the due process guidelines.
He said that any company that won the bidding would not be responsible for the payment of compensation for properties in the course of the projects to avoid the experiences of the past.
He noted that in the past when construction companies paid compensation directly to the people, the state government was usually left with the burden of settling some unpaid compensation after the construction might have been completed.
