A former deputy Vice chancellor of the Enugu-campus of the University of Nigeria,(UNN),? Prof.? Sam Ohaegbulam, has called for the declaration of a state of emergency in the health sector.
?

?

In a paper entitled “your future in your hands” which he presented at the swearing-in ceremony of medical graduands of the faculty of medicine, university of Nigeria, Enugu Campus? at the weekend,? Prof. Ohaegbulam, expressed regret that? some neighbouring countries not as richly blessed like Nigeria have state of the art medical facilities.
?

He insisted that unless the federal government took urgent steps to improve the remuneration of medical doctors and equip the hospitals with modern facilities to enhance their performance, the brain drain that has hit the nation’s health sector in recent years, would continue.??????
?

Professor Ohaegbulam, who is the founder and chief executive officer of Memfys International Centre For Neurosurgery, Enugu further said that Nigeria,? after spending huge sums of money to produce? doctors, developed countries would? lure them away from us with their superior facilities and better pay package.
