Senator Wants Obasanjo Prosecuted Over Toll Gates

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, Senator Roland Owie,? has called on the Minister of Justice and? Attorney General of the Federation, Justice Bello Adoke, to prosecute former President Olusegun Obasanjo for pulling down toll gates across the country during his administration.
?

Owie, who is also a Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) stalwart, also hailed the decision of the President Goodluck Jonathan to re-introduce tollgates.?
?

In his words, “ when Emperor Obasanjo was dismantling these tollgates, some of us spoke out against it but the palace jesters around him said Nigerians should not listen to us. The federal government should put the cost of rebuilding the gates across the nation on the feet of Obasanjo. He should bear the cost of rebuilding and because his action was criminal, he should be charged to court for the destruction of government property.
?

“I call on the Attorney General of the Federation to commence legal process against Obasanjo. The AG has no excuse now because Obasanjo no longer has immunity” he stated.
?

However, he cautioned that? “the new tollgates should now have police post, Health Center and an ambulance. And private businessmen should be encouraged to build motels and restaurants, a church and Mosque at each toll gate? vicinity. I commend the Minister of Works for the job he is doing so far”. He added.
