NANS Demands 26% Of Budget For Education

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the federal government? start implementing the 26 percent budgetary allocation to education as recommended by UNESCO which Nigeria is a signatory.

He made this call in a press conference organized by the association and addressed by the national president, Comrade Dauda Mohammed, on NigcomSat’s impact on the nation’s economy.

The president said: “NANS uses this medium to call on the minister of education to work out modalities that will ensure that government dedicates 26 percent in next year’s budget to education.”

The student association maintained that there is no going back on the issue as it had consulted widely and would hold a meeting at the Delta State University, Abraka, to “ensure that the federal government complies with the directive from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).”

NANS also expressed its satisfaction with the activities of NigComSat? and called on the government to support the agency as it was on the road to put Nigeria on the map of space innovation and development.
