Boko Haram: Ndume’s Arrest Re-Echos In Maiduguri

The arrest and subsequent arraignment of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume before an Abuja High Court by the officials of the State Security Service (SSS) who amongst other things, accused him of financing the Boko Haram, is still dominating discussions among the political class in Borno State.

LEADERSHIP investigation reveal that the lawmaker’s arrest had become? an issue of? discussion at various offices, business premises and at the local eateries.

Since news of his arrest filtered in last month, the state has been sharply divided over his alleged involvement with Boko Haram, even as his associates aand political colleagues insist that Ndume is being framed up by his political foes.

A close associate of the Senator,? who preferred anonymity said “it is very difficult to believe that the allegation against the federal Lawmaker is true.? I am sure that the political enemies of Senator Ndume are at work just to damage his political career”.

When our reporter took a trip to the old GRA home Senator Ndume, the place looked deserted, except a man at the gate that was under lock and key, who told our reporter that, “nobody? inside the house so you can go”.

In a related development,? a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja yesterday fixed December 5 to rule on the bail application filed by? Senator? Ndume? who is being prosecuted by?? the State Security Service (SSS) over his alleged involvement in sponsoring the sect.
