An 18-year old female student of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Aisha(surname witheld)? has told LEADERSHIP how she was battered? and raped by a 21-year old technician.?
The alleged rapist,Fred Okosun, has already been charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s court sitting in Ijaiye-Ojokoro.?
According to the charges before the court, Fred had on November 20, assaulted Aisha by stabbing her on her left arm before forcefully having a carnal knowledge of her.
Though Fred pleaded not guilty, yet Aisha told LEADERSHIP said that? the Incident happened a week before? she turned 18.She also claimed that she did not know Fred before the incident.
? “I don’t know him .He is not my friend.I was waiting for my friend when I saw him,”she said.
Aisha explained that on the day the incident happened, she went to her friend’s place to collect a particular? cloth that was to be used for an event.But she said her friend was not at home by the time she got there.
According to her, while she was waiting for her friend,Fred walked up to her? and expressed his intention to rape her.
“He brought out a bottle from nowhere and threatened to stab me withit if I did not remove my clothes. I tried to escape but there was no way because it is a small pathway and there is a flat in front of the boy’s quarters”,she explained.
Meanwhile, after much argument between the counsel to both parties, the? presiding magistrate, Mrs A.F Adeeyo granted the accused bail in the sum of N 200,000 and one surety in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned to January 22, 2012 for trial.
