Boko Haram Engages JTF On Another Crossfire

It was like a full blown war yesterday night at London Chiki area of Maiduguri Metropolis, when the dreaded Islamic extremists, known as Boko Haram launched another round of attack on the Joint Task Force (JTF) which resulted to face to face shoot out.

Witnesses at the scene of the incident who confided in our reporter said that it was a bomb explosion that was targeted at the JTF vehicles that triggered off the crossfire which lasted for hours, a situation that led to the feelings of the residents of the area? to run for cover. During the rage, unconfirmed report revealed that there were some casualties on both sides. Also, a similar ataack was reported to have occurred at Gwange area of Maiduguri Metropolis the same day, with no record of death but the area experienced heavy sound of sporadic shooting which lasted for hours.

A resident of London Chiki area who could not give his name said, “Oga, yesterday night was terrible for us because of the kind of shooting between the JTF and the Boko Haram members.

Many of us left our houses because of fear. I am sure some of them died”.

When contacted, the JTF spokesman Lt. Col. Hassan Mohammed confirmed the incident and said no casualty was recorded.
