Ringim Petitioned Over Murder Of Monarch

Kogi Watch, a Human Rights group based in the State of Maryland, United States of America, has tasked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hamfiz Ringim, to urgently investigate the gruesome murder of a Kogi Monarch, HRH Ibrahim Mohamed, who was murdered in his palace on the November 26, 2011.

The late Monarch who was rumoured to be pathetic towards the candidacy of Chief (Mrs) Aisha Audu-Emeje, the gubernatorial candidate of Justice Party, was a traditional ruler in Adavi local government area of Kogi State, where gubernatorial election would be taking place today.

The Rights group in the petition to IGP Ringim noted that whoever planned the killing of the late traditional ruler did so because of the gubernatorial election holding today in the state.

The petition signed by the national coordinator? of the US-based rights group, Comrade Onoja Collins, stated that the level of insecurity in the state would increase if the police fail? to unravel the secret behind what it called “a politically motivated killing” of the late King Ibrahim Mohammed.

Meanwhile, LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the Kogi State commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abakasanga, had earlier petitioned the IGP over the murder of the late Kogi Monarch.

Part of the petition confirmed that the late traditional ruler was shot dead on the fateful day at about 7:30pm by four men suspected to be hired assassins.

The official report of the state police chief further confirmed that the suspected hired assassins were dressed in military uniform allegedly shot the late monarch on the right side of his chest and left tight with an AK 47 Rifle.
