2 Jailed Over Fake NYSC Camp In Niger

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Minna, Niger State, presided over by Chief Magistrate, Hassan Mohammed,? has sentenced two men, Idiong Inima and Osinomumu Kenechukwu, to one year imprisonment for operating an illegal orientation camp for National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).

The accused who were sentenced on the three-count charge yesterday were however given option of fine. Inima was given option of N100,000 while the second accused person was given N300, 000 option of fine.

The chief magistrate, Hassan Mohammed, in his ruling stated that he would tamper justice with mercy considering that the accused persons? were first offenders and had pleaded for leniency.

He however ordered in his ruling? that a Toyota Camry Vehicle marked Lagos:TH52KJA and chassis number 4TIBG2K8V792117 belonging to the first accused, Idiong, which was bought from? proceeds of money extorted from the fake NYSC members,? be forfeited and sold, and the money remitted to the Niger State Government Treasury.
