Assassins Kill UBEC Boss, Royal Father In Kogi

The deplorable security situation in Kogi State has taken another dimension, following the invasion of Ebiraland by hired assasins, killing innocent citizens at will.

Investigation by LEADERSHIP WEEKEND revealed that in the last few weeks, no fewer than four personalities in the central axis of the state were gunned down at different locations in the area.

Among those that fell victim to these yet to be identified gunmen include a director with the state Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC) Mr. James Jimoh and a traditional ruler, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim.

The ugly trend has compelled the residents in the area, to restrict their movements at night, especially between 8 and 9 pm, when the assassins usually strike.

Reacting to the development, the state deputy governor, Chief Philip Salawu described it as strange and most unfortunate.

He called on the people of the area to come together to fight the few evil men threatening the harmonious co-existence among the people..

Also, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bello charged the security agents to fish out those behind the dastardly act.

In a statement signed by his special adviser on media, Alhaji Ibrahim Amoka, the speaker said the full weight of the law must be brought upon those threatening the peace of tzhe area, no matter their status in the society.
